BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of
BBC News to serve global audiences. It uses multiple platforms to reach its weekly audience of 468 million globally, including TV, digital platforms, radio, digital satellite and cable channels.
BBC News Korean is part of the 16 services of the Asia Region and is spread across Seoul and London. The multimedia service broadcasts on radio and has a thriving online and social media presence.
The service aims to make international news relevant to our Korean audience. Our service brings quality, impartial, original journalism with news and current affairs to the Korean speaking audience.
As the BBC Korean reporter you will play a crucial role within a newly established service, providing digital and radio content. You will be providing timely, expert and authoritative coverage of news and current affairs but with special attention to stories of concern to a Korean audience on the Korean Peninsula and around the world.
Your role will require you to advise teams on stories in the region for wider BBC consumption and will require you to report in Korean and English for multiplatform outlets, including online, social media and radio..
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have the following;
- Must have proven track record of covering and producing original stories for Korean media
- Must have a formal training in writing Korean news articles, and possess intermediate level of English
- Experience of producing news content for digital platform or social media is desirable
- Experience in in-depth, impactful investigative journalism is desirable
- Experience of presenting content on air is desirable
