Journalist, BBC Look North (East Yorkshire & Lincolnshire)
BBC Look North East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire is the most successful regional news programme in England serving a diverse audience. This is a chance to join a creative and dynamic team which prides itself on the highest standards across all our programmes generating stories that matter to our audience. Across the country the 6.30 is the most watched news programme on any channel, national or regional, and Look North reaches a greater proportion of its population than any other. We’ve also won awards for our coverage for everything from people trafficking to Hull’s success as the UK City of Culture. We need somebody who is highly motivated, organised and brimming with ideas to join our successful team based in Hull.
The successful candidate will be expected to work across all the Journalist shifts, producing material for our breakfast and lunchtime bulletins and producing items for the flagship 18.30 and 22.30 programmes. You will be expected to generate new ideas and original stories and you may also have the opportunity to report. You will need to have a thorough understanding of digital audiences. All our journalists work in a multi-platform way making the best use of new technology to share content across TV, radio and online.
Are you the right candidate?
We need someone who understands and cares about East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
You’ll possess excellent news judgement and be able to demonstrate journalism skills and be able to originate and develop programme stories. You’ll need to be able to work co-operatively as part of a team and will have an understanding of our audiences and the diverse make up of our transmission area.

Contract: 35 hours (4 x 10 hour shift patterns covering Breakfast/Lunch/Evening/Late programmes)
