The Newsgathering desk is at the centre of BBC Wales’s news operation, providing the central intake, diary, planning and deployment for all our output.
Newsgathering is responsible for the management and allocation of staff and resources. We work with all BBC Wales News programmes across TV, radio and Online.
You will be expected to play a part in the increasingly multi-skilled and co-ordinated system of planning and deployment in the News and Current Affairs Department.
You will also be expected to exercise editorial judgment in identifying and developing story ideas, producing accurate and impartial copy.
Are you the right candidate?
An experienced journalist, you will have strong news judgement, a sound knowledge of law, editorial policy and the issues that affect and interest Welsh audiences, and you will have a thorough appreciation of the various needs of our output: radio, television and digital, in Welsh and English.
You'll be a team player, reliable, thorough, accurate, and able to deliver under pressure.
This role will involve shift work and some weekend work will be required.
BBC Wales News and Current Affairs is an integrated team of journalists working across radio, TV and online in English and Welsh. Our aims are excellence, collaboration and innovation - for our teams and for our output. This job is for a Journalist initially working primarily in Newsgathering but you will be expected, encouraged and supported to work in different parts of the operation in order to develop your career and where operational demands require.
