Journalist, Serbian Service
BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of BBC News to serve global audiences.
As part of a historic and exciting expansion of the BBC World Service, the BBC launched a new Serbian service. Its digital offer covers international news and current affairs, as well as events and issues in Serbia and the wider region. The Service has an active social media presence and is part of the BBC World Service’s Europe Region.
We are looking for a Journalist to join our team in Belgrade.
In this role, you will produce and prepare for publication stories and other content for the BBC Serbian Service’s website, as well as for its social media and other platforms. You will be expected to remain across the local, regional and international agenda, suggesting ideas for stories and treatments, and moving on and/or developing existing stories.
You will produce original stories and work closely with other colleagues in the Service and elsewhere in the BBC on long-term features, investigative material, etc. You will also develop, and work with, multimedia content, producing videos, picture galleries and audio material.
We are looking for a candidate who has substantial experience in a similar role in a media outlet which is published in the Serbian language. You will take a keen interest in the global news agenda, in particular in its relation to the Serbian-speaking market. You will have produced original and/or investigative journalistic material. Experience in digital media is highly desirable.
Are you the right candidate?
The successful candidate will be an experienced journalist with fluent Serbian and sound English language skills. You will have excellent knowledge of Serbian and international news and current affairs. Experience of working in a multimedia environment is important. Experience of reporting in the field would be a distinct advantage. You will have sound editorial judgement and be able to demonstrate your ability to provide quality, independent and balanced coverage of news stories to our audiences.
