BBC Radio Foyle is a multi-award winning station located in Londonderry. We primarily serve audiences in the north west of Northern Ireland but also produce a wide-variety of content for BBC NI and Network. We are looking for a Broadcast Journalist to join a multi-media, digital first newsroom. The successful candidate will initiate and produce, as part of a team, a wide variety of news and current affairs material for all media platforms including radio, television, online and social media.
The successful candidate will be planning, originating and developing ideas for content across all platforms and carrying out research to a broad brief, across the whole range of news and current affairs output.
You will be writing material for web pages, social media, bulletins and links and programme scripts, exercising editorial and legal judgement, professional journalistic standards and adhering to BBC policy and legal and contractual guidelines.
Responsibilities include preparing and writing news and features online, including assessing incoming copy, sub-editing news copy, subtitling, and deploying the necessary resources.

Are you the right candidate?
Our ideal candidate will either a recognised journalistic qualification or practical experience in journalism. You will have first class news judgement and an in-depth knowledge of Northern Ireland and, in particular, North West affairs.
You must have an excellent, authoritative broadcasting voice; good writing skills; the ability to originate, develop and plan stories and programmes and the ability to work co-operatively as part of a small team.
Knowledge of production techniques and facilities in radio, television, social media and news online and the ability to develop tri-media production skills would be key to this role.
