Job Introduction

As part of a historic and exciting expansion of the BBC World Service, the BBC launched a new Serbian service in 2018.  Its digital offer covers international news and current affairs, as well as events and issues in Serbia and the wider region. The Service has an active social media presence and is part of the BBC World Service’s Europe Region.

Role Responsibility

As a journalist you will be covering a wide range of journalism activity and provide thorough, timely and professional reporting on events in a range of formats. Your primary responsibilities will include producing social media output, digital content, videos and innovative editorial projects to serve our audiences. 

You will propose; research; write; report and edit interesting and well-explained reports and more thoughtful, analytical pieces for publication – meeting high journalistic standards and fully observing the BBC editorial guidelines.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have previous Journalism experience and be fluent in Serbian language with the ability to speak and translate from English into Serbian. Any knowledge of the Russian language will be desirable. You will have experience on working on social media platforms, engagement and moderation with the ability to develop different types of storytelling. Previous experience in producing digital videos and covering regional (Balkans) topics is highly advantageous.
