Junior Studio Engineer, BBC Studioworks
BBC Studioworks is a commercial subsidiary of the BBC providing studios and post production services to all the major TV broadcasters and production companies including the BBC, ITV, Sky, Channel 4, Channel 5 and the Endemol Shine Group. Located across sites in Elstree and Television Centre in White City, our London facilities are home to some of the nation’s most watched and loved television shows. We offer world-class studio and post production spaces, equip them with the right technology and engage the most dedicated and talented people in the industry. By doing this, we bring shows to life.
We are seeking two Junior Studio Engineers to join our Studioworks team.
The role works under the guidance of a Studio Engineer on the maintenance, implementation and operation of a wide range of broadcast equipment and systems deployed in our Studios. The Junior Engineer will move between technical areas as necessary to cover programme and maintenance needs and will also cover post production. Delivering effective technology solutions, preparing documentation to define solutions or configurations including technical schematics and drawing are a key part of this role.
You will be assisting the engineering team in planning designing, developing, integrating, commissioning and testing systems whilst also taking ownership of specific small elements of projects and meet time, cost and quality targets for their delivery. You will be testing new installations, ensuring test logs/registers are kept up to date and ensuring that technical faults are cleared, or alternative ways of meeting production or other requirements are identified and implemented with the minimum loss of studio time.
In addition, you will be assisting the Engineering team in devising modifications to equipment or systems as required and then to supervise appropriate field trails. You will play a part in ensuring that electronic equipment is maintained and aligned to defined standards and is modified and updated as required.
Are you the right candidate?
You will have the training and qualifications relevant to broadcast engineering coupled with the knowledge and experience of vision, sound, communication and computer systems relative to a television studio environment. You will be a positive, enthusiastic individual with an ability to deal tactfully and sympathetically to requests from operational and production staff. Customer awareness and an appreciation of productions requirements are essential together with proven problem solving skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
