Lead Architect - Connectivity Innovation
We’re Technology Strategy and Architecture – we’re transforming the BBC’s technology for the future. Our specific team interest is in Connectivity Architecture, and defining connectivity strategy.
The BBC is at one of the most exciting (and perhaps daunting) periods of its nearly 100 years of existence. The disruption caused to the industry by the advent of media on mobiles, smart televisions and tablets, and the ever changing patterns of media uptake and therefore brand awareness in millennials and centennials means the BBC needs to serve many people in many different ways to remain universally available. In this role you’ll have the chance to stamp your mark on the changes we’ll be making for years to come. The move towards universally serving audiences over the internet rather than through traditional transmitters or satellite platforms comes with huge challenges, but also immense opportunity. This is your chance to join and more importantly to influence and curate that journey.
The Ideal Candidate
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for an individual who come bags of experience from the IP media sector. Working for Technology, Strategy and Architecture, you’ll be accountable for defining the future networks and connectivity to transform the BBC from its traditional linear model of today to an internet-fit future.
Working alongside the Lead accountable for connectivity strategy, you’ll be providing the inspiration and experience that have taken previous media organisations from start-ups to well-known brands and household names.
So you must have experience in the IP media sector, ideally having worked for one of the bigger media companies whose technology systems and platforms have allowed them to grow fast but remain robust and reliable. Nice to haves would certainly include qualifications in enterprise architecture disciplines and significant experience of changing or disrupting large organisations. Most importantly you’ll be big and bold thinker, someone with entrepreneurial traits, and someone who can win round legacy thinkers with bold ideas founded on a real understanding of the requirements and the technology.
