Licensing & Archive Coordinator

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an efficient and proactive Licensing & Archive Coordinator to join the busy Motion Gallery team on a continuing basis here at BBC Studios in London.

BBC Studios  is the main commercial arm and a wholly owned subsidiary of the BBC. BBC Studios exists to support the BBC public service mission and to maximise profits on its behalf. It does this through investing in, commercialising, and showcasing content from the BBC in the UK and around the world. In 2017/18, BBC Studios generated headline sales of £432.0m. The UK region delivers nearly a third of BBC Studios revenues (c£360m), across a broad range of sectors, including Channels, TV Distribution, Consumer Products, Live Events, Publishing and e-Commerce.

Role Responsibility

The main purpose of this role is to support the BBC Motion Gallery and Getty Images partnership by providing licensing advice, logistical and technical support, and securing editorial permissions for the Getty sales team. The role balances the duty to safeguard the brand of the BBC collection, while allowing the BBC Motion Gallery/Getty Images to meet and exceed sales targets.

Your role, as Licensing & Archive Coordinator, will be to verify Library Sales rights of BBC archive to establish if a license can be offered and to secure permissions from senior BBC and BBC Studios staff to ensure compliance with strict BBC policies. You will build an in-depth understanding of BBC editorial guidelines and policies, and ensure these are met in relation to the sale of clip content to avoid any instances of being in breach of said guidelines.

You’ll use your excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to maintain effective communication with Getty sales team based in offices globally allowing them to close sales, to meet sales targets and deliver best value to clients.

Are you the right candidate?

You’ll need a basic understanding of Intellectual Property Copyright and experience within a Media sales environment; although this role is not a direct sales role, you will be supporting a wide sales team and will need to understand the pressures and deadlines of working in this type of environment. You’ll need excellent time management skills and will be comfortable dealing with a high-volume workload. The ideal candidate will be assertive, efficient and pro-active with a “hands-on” and flexible approach in order to juggle conflicting priorities.

You’ll ideally come from a broadcast or other media background with knowledge of sales and archives. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to gain further experience and training within Licensing & Archives and carve a career in this energetic and driven team.
