Manager, Operations Engineering

Job Introduction

This role will lead a team of regional engineers based at multiple sites across the North West, Yorkshire and East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

The role reports to the ‘Head of Operations , BBC England’ and will work closely with the other regional ‘Managers, Operations Engineering’, the ‘Campus Operations Executive  - BBC England’ and the editorial and operational leaders at each of their sites.

Role Responsibility

To be successful in this role, you will need substantial experience of broadcast engineering at a senior level, and be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of TV and Radio broadcast technology equipment and infrastructure.

You will be able to demonstrate your experience leading engineering and/or operational teams, with evidence of strong leadership, strategic thinking and decision-making skills. 

You will be skilled at delegation, presentation, and communication,  you must be able to demonstrate that you can communicate clearly to a wide range of people/stakeholders.  

Knowledge of health and safety standards, business continuity processes, and related workplace and technology legislation and processes, and other relevant regulatory requirements is essential.

Experience of managing both staffing and technical infrastructure budgets is desirable.

Should be aware of the BBCs and BBC England’s strategic goals as well as wider broader industry trends.

Please note: This role has staff based at sites across the North of England and regular visits to these teams and sites is anticipated.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be able to demonstrate your experience leading engineering and/or operational teams, with evidence of strong leadership and decision-making skills.  Skilled at delegation, presentation, and communication,  You must be able to demonstrate that you can communicate clearly to a wide range of people/stakeholders.  

You will be able to demonstrate your experience holding a key role in the rollout of a broadcast technology project.

Knowledge of health and safety standards, business continuity processes, and related workplace and technology legislation and processes, and other relevant regulatory requirements is essential.

Please note: this role has responsibilities across BBC England and significant travel & working away from base is anticipated.

Location: Leeds - Broadcasting Centre (although another base in the North West, Yorkshire or East Yorkshire would be considered)
