Multimedia Broadcast Journalist (Dari), BBC Afghan Service
BBC World Service is one of the world’s largest international multimedia broadcasters, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of the BBC to serve our huge global audiences. Our multiple platforms reach a weekly audience of 320 million globally, including TV, digital platforms including social media, AM, FM, shortwave, digital, satellite and cable channels.
As part of a historic and exciting expansion, the BBC World Service has increased its language services serving audiences in Persian, Dari, Pashto, Turkish, Uzbek and Kyrgyz. We are now looking for two talented Dari-speaking Multimedia Journalists to join our BBC Afghan service on 12 month fixed term contracts.
Our Multimedia Journalists work across digital and, social media platforms together with TV programmes to ensure that we create the highest quality and most up to date content for our audiences. They also make sure that content is relevant, contemporary, unexpected and thought- provoking whilst conforming to BBC Editorial Guidelines.
You will be responsible for delivering influential stories within tight deadlines for TV, digital and social media platforms and will be expected to report, present, research, write, translate, edit and adapt stories or programme material for the service.

Are you the right candidate?
You must have substantial, recent experience as a journalist with the ability to write original news content for a variety of media platforms and different audiences whilst finding interesting angles. You will have extensive knowledge of the politics, culture and social affairs in Afghanistan and the wider region.
A fluent understanding of Dari and English, both written and spoken, is essential.
