Multimedia Journalist, BBC Persian Service

Job Introduction

BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of BBC News to serve global audiences.  It uses multiple platforms to reach its weekly audience of 320 million globally, including TV, digital platforms including social media, AM, FM, shortwave, digital satellite and cable channels.  BBC Persian reaches a weekly audience of approximately 22 million people in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and around the world, providing content on TV, Radio, Online and Social Media. It is one of the BBC’s most popular and successful global services.

Role Responsibility

Our Multimedia Journalists work across website, social platforms and TV programmes to ensure that the highest quality content is created for our audiences. They also make sure that content conforms to BBC editorial standards. 

You will be responsible for delivering influential stories within tight deadlines for TV, online and digital platforms and will be expected to report, present, research, write, translate, edit and adapt stories or programme material for the Persian service.

Are you the right candidate?

Applicants must have substantial, recent experience as a journalist with the ability to write news content for a variety of media platforms and different audiences. You will have extensive knowledge of the politics, culture and social affairs in the target area.

A fluent understanding of Farsi and English, both written and spoken, is essential.
