Multimedia Reporter, Miami
BBC Mundo is part of the BBC World Service’s foreign language output. It is the Spanish American Service of the World Service, we have newsrooms in London and Miami and offices across the USA and Latin America.
We are a multimedia operation and constantly update our website bbcmundo.com, which uses text, video and audio and offers user interactivity. Our output is extremely varied with a strong emphasis on Latin America, international current affairs and science/technology.
We are seeking to appoint one Multimedia Reporter to work from our Miami office (local terms and conditions apply).
Reporting to the Multimedia Desk Editor, you will research, report, write, translate, edit and adapt stories, coupled with finding contributors and interviewees for interesting content. You will write original material for all multimedia output, including text stories, audio content and video, with relevant training and deliver live content as required in English and Spanish. You’ll ensure that your stories are moving, fresh and constantly thinking about strategies and approaches. This position will expect you to advise on other parts on Latin American affairs and monitor the traffic to the website. You may also be required to travel off base.
Are you the right candidate?
With Latin American Spanish as your first (or equivalent) language and an excellent command of English, the successful candidate will have recent and relevant full time experience as a journalist, both in originating material and editing the work of others. You’ll also have experience of reporting in the field on International and/or Latin American related stories, coupled with the ability to demonstrate a good range of contacts for interview, including political and economic analysts. You must be able to demonstrate an interest in working in a multimedia environment and encouraging audience involvement, along with strong digital and technical skills.
