Operations Engineer, BBC South East
BBC South East is looking to recruit an Operations Engineer to join our small, highly innovative team who provide technical support to Regional Television and Local Radio stations in Kent, Sussex and Surrey.
We provide support, expertise and development for audio, video and transmission equipment and systems used in newsgathering, production and broadcast chains.
Reporting to the Technology Organiser, as part of the technology team you’ll deliver a comprehensive support service, including installation and maintenance of newsgathering, studio, broadcast IT and transmission equipment.
You’ll also take part in a range of activities and operations in our regional centre and local radio stations. This includes operational work such as Technical Manager in the production gallery, and planning/rigging television and radio Outside Broadcasts.
You may be required to work a variety of shifts, including early morning starts, late evening finishes and occasional weekends. You will also provide relief cover at our Local Radio stations from time to time.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have excellent knowledge of Broadcast Technology, including Broadcast IT and Broadcast Networks, or be able to demonstrate an ability to develop the skills required.
You must be a team worker, customer focused with a positive attitude, and able to maintain a calm, knowledgeable manner when under pressure. You need to be resilient, and able to work to tight deadlines.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills are essential. Experience of maintenance of production systems and equipment currently used by Regional TV and Local Radio would be desirable.
