BBC World Service is looking for a Producer for the Brazilian Service. This is for a 5 month FTC based in New Broadcasting House.
You will be working in a team of journalists and reporting to the Brasil Editor and to the São Paulo Executive Editor. On a daily basis you will be reporting to Current Affairs Editors/Desk Editors in London and Sao Paulo, as appropriate. Shift work may be required which could include nights, weekends and public holidays.
The main responsibilities of the role will be to report in the field, originate, research, prepare, produce and present items, articles, packages, interviews, discussions, complete programmes, background, analysis and features, for online, video, radio and other media forms. You will ensure that any editorial material for which you are responsible meets the standards required by the BBC. You may be required to work as Duty Editor, publisher of the website and coordinator of the video and radio production when required.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a full command and up to date knowledge of Brazilian Portuguese as first (or equivalent) language. You will have an extremely good knowledge of English including complete comprehension of written and spoken English and the ability to communicate effectively. Ideally you wil have recent and relevant full-time experience as a journalist, both in originating material and editing the work of others. You will have also have experience of reporting on international and Brazilian political and economics issues and be able to demonstrate a good range of contacts for interview purposes including political and economic analysts, politicians, etc.
