BBC Three’s content production team in Birmingham produces a range of content for BBC Three’s social channels as well as for broadcast with multiple projects running simultaneously. The Production Manager will manage the Production Management team on a day to day basis as well as providing support and expertise for the wider team in a demanding and changing environment. You will ensure the creation and delivery of accurate and realistic production budgets and budget forecasts and you will be responsible for effective, proactive end-to-end production planning and management, from development through to post production and delivery, ensuring projects are on time and on budget, and that the team is working in a safe way. The Production Manager will develop and manage the production management team ensuring best practice at all times.
You will work closely with the Executive Producer and other key stakeholders inside and outside of the team to support and manage the content production team. You will also work closely and collaboratively with the Production Management team at our London base. Duties include the recruitment and resourcing of key staff, induction and training of team members and procurement of production resources always ensuring best value for money.
Are you the right candidate?
You will be an experienced Production Manager with a track record of successfully managing multiple projects and fast turnaround productions. You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work successfully with multiple stakeholders and you’ll have excellent leadership skills, leading by example to create a supportive environment which gets the very best from the team. You will have a keen interest in developing and implementing improved processes and ways of working using a creative and flexible approach and a can do attitude. You will also have an in depth understanding of current end-to-end production workflows. A good, up to date, knowledge of BBC production systems would be an advantage.
