Programme Operations Executive

Job Introduction

We are looking for a Programme Operations Executive with the ability to handle significant volumes of assets while overseeing several projects at various points of production. You will be required to stay on top of current and evolving industry technology and act as an advisor to the BBC Studios Productions division. You will be able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with suppliers and internal BBC Studios stakeholders. You will be highly organised, proactive and detail orientated. The role holder will predominantly manage our natural history and drama portfolios and be expected to fully understand 4K workflows, co-producer requirements and IMF deliverables.

Role Responsibility

 

  • You will ensure the most efficient intake and delivery methods for all commissioned assets as agreed contractually
  • Work closely with producers and vendors to ensure optimised delivery to global clients and co-producers
  • Be mindful of changing technical demands when working with co-producers and other production partners
  • Liaise regularly with cross functional partners and internal teams, such as Marketing, Photography, Digital, Creative, Localisation in order to facilitate best practices that enable production assets to be delivered securely and on time
  • Support content Partnerships in making investment decisions and provide advice upon issuing complex Materials Lists for Natural History landmarks and other genres
  • Support and consult with Natural History Unit and Commercial Agency on unscripted landmarks and other genres
  • Escalate as and when necessary any issues or concerns to Senior Programme Operations Executive or the Head of Content and relevant Content Partnerships contacts
  • Oversee production recalls

 

Technical Delivery & Contractual Compliance

  • Assess acquisition and delivery requirements, propose new ways of working and introduce solutions where possible
  • Demonstrate specialist knowledge of UHD requirements and post production workflows
  • Enforce technical requirements that are set out in the Content Delivery Book for productions
  • Stay informed about the latest industry news, technical specifications and best practices relevant to factual landmarks
  • Act as technical liaison between Production and Content Partnerships

 

Communication/Relationships

  • To build and maintain excellent relationships and partnerships with stakeholders internally and externally
  • Provide relevant guidance to producers and supporting teams in order to hit necessary business targets within budget and on time
  • Plan regular meetings with relevant producers to monitor progress of each project, inform key parties of any changes and recent developments that may affect delivery of needed assets

Finances

  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, on budget and to agreed levels of quality.

Are you the right candidate?

 

  • You will have rock solid understanding of all modern audio and visual media formats and platforms
  • Be passionate and knowledgeable about BBC Studios content both current and historical
  • You will have the ability to follow the development and editorial process through from script to delivery
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Sound knowledge of programming across the BBC Studios international channels
  • Ability to use IT proficiently, including a range of software packages
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external contacts           
  • Ability to prioritise in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to use own initiative with confidence, using own judgment to escalate any issues where necessary
  • Ability to find creative solutions to complex issues
  • Excellent knowledge of evolving global audience requirements and the importance of diversity in our content
  • Understanding of the financial consequences of editorial decisions

Desirable

  • Awareness of complex post-production workflows, some knowledge of UHD and IMF requirements
