Senior Account Manager, Advertising Sales

Job Introduction

The Senior Account Manager is responsible for generating advertising revenue from key clients and advertising agencies and the day-to-day management of key accounts based in Singapore.

The Senior Account Manager is responsible for managing specific Singapore based ad agencies & clients with the aims of building trust, relationships and ultimately generating revenue for BBC.COM, BBC World Service and BBC World News TV sites across local, regional, and global digital and TV campaigns.

Reporting to the VP Advertising Sales Singapore & South East Asia, the Senior Account Manager works on multiple lines of business across various key clients and agencies in Singapore. The role necessitates liaising with multiple internal stakeholders and sales support both in Singapore, regionally and globally at BBC Global News to generate advertising revenue. This is a highly consultative sales role that requires maturity, ability to work unsupervised and under-pressure, with clearly defined revenue sales targets and other KPI’s needing to be met.

Role Responsibility

Revenue Generation & Account Management

  • Under the guidance of the VP Advertising Sales Singapore & South East Asia, the role involves both business development activity as well as responding in a timely, efficient and collaborative manner to advertising briefs from ad agencies and clients.
  • The SAM will lead pitches and tenders based on the portfolio of client & agencies under the SAM’s account
  • The SAM will work closely and collaboratively with the wider sales teams & internal stakeholders in SG, APAC & globally as required in order to develop creative sales solutions for clients & agencies briefs
  • The SAM is responsible , with support from direct line management and internal stake holders, for proposing, presenting, negotiating and closing these BBC solutions to ad agencies & clients, with presentations being face-to-face, virtually or a combination of the two
  • The SAM is responsible for the detailed, timely and efficient input and management into the BBCGN CRM (Salesforce)  entries relating to clients.
  • Work alongside the teams Sales Planners, Business Intelligence & insights teams to identify relevant opportunities for advertisers across the BBC commercial portfolio
  • Develop a reputation among clients as a specialist in delivery global media solutions.

Forecasting & Networking

  • Deliver weekly and monthly revenue reports to VP in order to track booked, forecast and pipeline revenue against quarterly, half-yearly and annual revenue targets both personal and office
  • Ensure accuracy of reporting and accountability of business intel for all agencies & clients under the SAM responsibility. Be the voice of BBC Global News Sales to all agencies & clients under the SAM management
  • Identify key trends and shifts in the market and provide intel to team and VP
  • Work together with the Sales Planners & internal stakeholders to provide regular campaign performance updates & post campaign reports for clients, including any commentary on campaign performance.
  • Where relevant and appropriate, involvement in industry events, networking & client entertainment IRL or virtual, in Singapore or overseas as required

Client Engagement

  • Establish key relationships with decision makers, influencers, planners and strategists at agencies & clients under SAM management & ensure all such details are updated, updated and correct in the BBC GN CRM (Salesforce)
  • Partake and input into weekly Singapore & wider APAC office weekly WIP calls to ensure all stakeholders and decision makers at BBCGN are across all actual, propose and closed opportunities under the SAM management
  • Along with the Sales Planners, track performance of ongoing campaigns and optimise to the advertisers & BBCGN benefit
  • Work with Business Intelligence and Insights teams to track competitive activity & use this information for new business activity

Commercial knowledge

  • Keep up to date with industry trends, new product developments and the competition to develop a reputation as a digital ambassador and advisor within the regional team.
  • Have a working knowledge of programmatic advertising & the willingness to learn and stay across the emerging platform
  • Have a strong consultative sales approach, be comfortable selling content-based broadcast and digital solutions to a range of personnel of varying seniority at agencies & clients in Singapore

Knowledge

  • Media Industry and platforms.
  • Digital and TV advertising products and solutions
  • Working knowledge of programmatic advertising & content sales
  • IT literate.
  • Numerate.
  • Troubleshooting tools and techniques.
  • Industry Knowledge.
  • Aware of socio-economic factors which would positively/negatively impact on core business.
  • Creative and presenting skills.

  • Self starter, determined and driven to succeed – enjoy people and the sales environment
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently in an agile manner (WFH and WFO) as & when needed
  • Clear communicator who enjoys presenting, negotiating and closing/winning business deals
  • Ability to work under pressure, both internal and external.
  • Analysing and solving problems often involving complex & multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work as part of a small team across multiple markets in APAC and beyond
  • Willingness to keep learnng, developing and embrace BBC Company Culture (inform, educate, entertain)
     

Experience

  • Experience as a sales account manager with a high performing team.
  • Demonstrable ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
  • Business sense and industry expertise.
