Senior Agile Delivery Manager - Platform

Role Responsibility

  • Work with the stakeholders to agree on the project objectives (e.g. OKRs), evaluate the options and appropriate approach and techniques for delivery.
    • To ensure the project goals and objectives are captured, prioritised and delivered by the delivery teams
  • To lead collaboration sessions and facilitate multiple teams to focus on agreeing outcomes that the teams can partner on
  • To lead and co-ordinate the scoping, technical requirements gathering, estimating and planning for single or multiple projects or work streams
  • Apply sequential and agile project management techniques to make decisions, solve problems and ensure the quality of work done.
  • Ensure shared clarity of scope, good estimating, solution development and management of risk and dependencies.
    • To anticipate, manage and resolve issues, risks, dependencies and impediments that may impact on the delivery of your projects.
  • Conduct timely oversight forums (e.g. Project Board, Product Direction Group). 
    • To ensure that project progress is reported in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and teams to improve the iPlayer product.
  • Work as an embedded project manager in a cross-discipline team comprised of software developers, testers, user experience designers, product managers, business analysts and subject matter experts.
    • To coach the development team in good agile practices, and act as the Scrum Master where necessary, including facilitating retrospectives and running product demos.
  • To act as the first point of contact for all problems, obstacles and opportunities on a project. Issues could include supplier dependencies, infrastructure and operational capability.
  • Co-ordinate the work of the cross-discipline teams to ensure that the investment of time and effort yields the greatest benefits for our audience and the business.
  • Lead the cross-discipline teams through discovery, delivery and continuous improvement.
    • To promote continuous improvement initiatives and associated experiments with the team.
  • Be responsible for running the weekly "scrum of scrum" process, handling escalated issues and dependencies across teams

Are you the right candidate?

  • The successful candidate in this role will need to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of agile software development methodologies and best practice from across the industry. 
  • Excellent facilitation and collaboration skills to really bring teams together, gain buy-in and to delivery valuable, measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to effectively deal with difficult stakeholders, navigate ambiguous, changeable, and complex environments and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Extensive relevant experience working on projects/programmes, and a substantial period (s) of managing projects to successful outcomes, leading teams, planning, problem-solving, progress monitoring, managing risk, and budget or resource responsibility.
  • Working knowledge of the project lifecycle, products, techniques and methodologies and approaches and the understanding of how to best apply to the situation.
  • Excellent and well-practised communication (verbal, written, listening), interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to bridge specialism and business through user-friendly language.
  • Sound knowledge of Agile, Scrum, facilitating ceremonies, retros, and stand-ups.
