As an experienced Delivery Manager, you’ll work with our expert teams behind a massive mission; to inform, educate and entertain. The BBC’s Archive grows on a daily basis , as well as looking after nearly 100 years of heritage we also develop and design new products and systems to capture and make accessible a huge variety of content.

You’ll empower our multi-disciplinary digital teams to design, build, maintain and improve products for Archives Technology & Services that ultimately enrich content and provide value to our users and audiences.

Role Responsibility

Archives Technology & Services is responsible for the management and storage of the BBC’s catalogue of content, this includes stores of physical material and a range of systems and products which make BBC content accessible to our audiences, programme makers and partners. 

As our new Senior Agile Delivery Manager you’ll primarily be responsible for delivery in the Archive Data product group in Archives Technology, which includes Search & Discovery and the data underpinning those use cases. 

We’re looking for a candidate to help the team and the products achieve their goals. We’re looking for someone who wants to work closely with the team, to learn, and be passionate about delivering value to the BBC. This role will work alongside Archives Technology Product Managers to deliver projects and features across our products, and you will be part of a team of Project Managers within Archives Technology & Services. You will primarily be responsible for delivery in the Archive Data product group in Archives Technology, which includes Search & Discovery and the data underpinning those use cases. 

You will be responsible for the planning of work coming into the team, managing dependencies and deliverables, ensuring the developers have the information they need in order to complete their work, communicating with 3rd parties, and removing blockers. 

You will report on the completion of features, and the velocity of the team. You will also be required to manage the backlog and report on delivery against the product roadmap(s), including the financial aspects of the relevant products or projects.

The Ideal Candidate

If you have a delivery mindset and a track record of working on numerous projects and products over the years then we want to hear from you. We’re looking for a Senior Delivery Manager who has a track record of empowering trusted individuals to do their thing, and embodies a pragmatic and adaptable approach to delivery, who prioritises collaboration, clear reporting and can easily respond to change. You should also display an interest in learning the technology being used is a benefit (though this does not require a high degree of technical software knowledge). 

  • The ideal candidate will enjoy working very closely with product managers, engineers and a variety of stakeholders, and facilitating their development. 
  • You will have a good understanding of methodologies such as Agile / Scrum and software engineering processes and practices.
  • You’re a completer finisher: We are looking for someone that will pro-actively take on the planning of new work, following through from inception to completion in terms of the delivery process. 
  • You will be experienced in delivering digital products in an agile environment
  • You will have supported development teams in their use of Jira and Confluence, or similar tools ensuring good housekeeping and best practice are maintained.
  • You will have excellent communication skills and experience in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You will have experience planning the work of a development team, following through on that plan and reporting on progress.
