Senior Communications Specialist, Digital – TV Licensing

Job Introduction

The BBC is predominantly funded by the Licence Fee, in the last financial year the Licence Fee Unit was responsible for the collection of £3.8 billion.  TV Licensing’s communications strategy are devised and implemented by an in-house team, with support from regional agencies.

There is currently an opportunity to join the TV Licensing communications team to lead on the digital communications campaigns and report to the Communications Manager.

Role Responsibility

The successful candidate will be responsible for devising and implementing communications/public relations campaigns to enhance and protect the reputation of TV Licensing and in turn, the wider BBC. The role will focus on planning and developing engaging digital content and the development and delivery of TV Licensing’s digital communications strategy, ensuring quality in terms of speed, tone and deftness.

As well as leading proactive digital campaigns this person will be responsible for reactive communications, primarily on Twitter, working alongside agencies where appropriate and supporting and working with other members of the wider TV Licensing communications team

Are you the right candidate?

This role requires a communications professional with substantial digital PR experience, with specific experience of having developed, executed and evaluated social media campaigns across web, Twitter and YouTube, specifically -

  • Good knowledge of principles of SEO and using social media monitoring tools such as Sysomos or Radion6
  • Excellent interpersonal/communications skills and good writer/editor
  • Ability to drive creativity and innovation
  • Attention to detail while never losing sight of the bigger picture
  • Good experience in proactive and reactive media relations including media/issues/crisis management and media evaluation
  • Experience of national and regional public relations

Ideally the successful candidate will have experience of working in an in-house PR team within the public or third sectors.
