A new role has been created for an experienced and proactive data privacy specialist to join BBC Studio’s in-house Privacy Team as a Senior Data Privacy Advisor. You would be joining a team of four other data privacy and compliance experts responsible for providing pragmatic day-to-day advice to productions and business teams and for the management and implementation of policies and processes designed to assist teams in complying with the UK and international data privacy legislation, regulation and guidance.
As a Senior Data Privacy Advisor reporting to the Chief Privacy Officer, you will provide specialist advice across the business and carry out vendor due diligence and DPIAs and manage Data Subject Rights Requests. You will also support the Data Privacy Manager in the continuous development and improvement of the privacy compliance framework and management of privacy champion groups.
The Senior Data Privacy Advisor role is varied, challenging and will provide you with the opportunity to help evolve the BBC Studios privacy framework and to advise on a wide range of matters, such as;
- Productions - advising on privacy notices and application and casting processes
- Consumer marketing and relationship management – advising on copy and privacy notices
- Supporting Data Protection Impact Assessments for strategic projects
- Undertaking Vendor assessments
- Managing Data Subject Rights Requests
Are you the right candidate?
At BBC Studios, we seek people who are passionate about who we are and what we do.
You will need experience working in a data protection compliance role that involves the practical delivery of privacy and assessment of risk into product or service design.
Good practical knowledge and application of key data protection legislation (including PECR); You’ll be experienced at assessing and drafting complex risk assessments; drafting privacy notices/policies and managing data subject rights requests and complaints.
Proactive, collaborative work style with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience in business partnering across a diverse range of mid to senior-level stakeholders will be essential to your success in this role.
Broadcast/production/media experience and industry qualifications are desirable but not essential. If you have some but not all of these skills, we’d still be interested in hearing from you as we offer excellent training.
Contract type: Continuing / Hybrid (2 days p/w in office)
