We are looking for a strong ideas generator with a proven track record in developing distinctive factual entertainment ideas, from original conception to pitch, for a range of broadcasters and platforms to join our development team in London. Production experience is desirable along with a stellar development record and experience of overseeing funded developments.
The Senior Development Producer will be tasked with developing exciting factual entertainment ideas principally for the UK market. We are looking for someone who has created brand new formats that have felt fresh and original, preferably in the reality and competitions space.
Alongside ideas generation, you would be expected to interrogate ideas and bottom them out completely, produce compelling treatments and pitch materials, lead brainstorms, spot exciting new talent to work with and design decks. We want someone who is obsessed with watching all new content, spotting new trends and has a deep understanding of the commissioning landscape and how to shape ideas to suit the broadcaster.
The Development team is the creative heartbeat of this vibrant department’s output and has an excellent track record of winning commissions for a range of broadcasters and platforms.
You will be expected to come up with exciting new concepts that have the potential to be returnable, sellable and scalable. You will also be able to think through formats and solve problems to make your and the team’s ideas as distinctive as possible. You will be passionate about talent and finding vehicles for both established and emerging names.
You will have a strong track record of coming up with imaginative and commissionable programme proposals. You will have personally originated ideas that have led to commissions. You will need to show you can write punchy, effective pitches, and you will have highly developed team-working and communication skills with the ability to identify opportunities for collaborations.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have a minimum of three credits at Senior / Development Producer level working specifically to develop Factual Entertainment ideas for linear television.
Proven success in devising and producing original non-scripted formats in the reality, competition and bold formats space.
Evidence of spotting and introducing up and coming up with potential on-screen talent along with creating innovative ideas for new on-screen talent vehicles for Fact Ent.
You will have a passion for developing new content across channels and platforms with the desire to build on the success of our established brands such as Amazing Hotels and Dragon’s Den.
You will relish developing creative and innovative new ideas showing an awareness of the television market in the UK and internationally keeping across new trends and talent within television, in particular with regards to specialist factual output.
Working across a slate of development ideas and managing time and resources, you will have excellent communication skills writing fast turnaround punchy, effective pitching documents and producing taster tapes in order to aid successful commissions.
Experience of Keynote and Premiere is preferred, as well as the ability to shoot.
Excellent people skills.
Production experience is desirable but not required.
Experience in handling confidential and/or controversial information with tact and sensitivity.
