Senior Digital Producer

Job Introduction

BBC Studios portfolio of franchise and genre brands exist to extend the enjoyment of global audiences’ favourite programmes and includes the longest running sci-fi TV show in the world Doctor Who; the world-renowned entertainment format Dancing With The Stars which has over 50 international versions; the most successful motoring entertainment show in the world Top Gear. These have been sold to over 220 territories. The portfolio also includes leading factual umbrella brand BBC Earth, which amplifies landmark natural history titles such as Planet Earth II as well as overseeing live events, web activity and giant screen experiences associated with the brand.

Following a promotion in the team, we are now looking for an experienced Digital Producer to join the team and lead four Producers. The Digital Producer is tasked with developing a slate of original digital content for social channels and websites, primarily for of the Global Franchise brands: Top Gear, BBC Earth, Doctor Who and pre-school children’s programmes like Hey Duggee.

The role manages the creative execution and delivery of different types of content for publishing on different platforms, overseeing projects from concept to live, working with a variety of different stakeholders. You will manage in-house staff, freelancers, agency and outside production teams.

A key part of the role involves the optimisation of content and working closely with our channel management colleagues to maximise opportunities for audience engagement and monetisation. You’ll ensures projects are delivered to time, on budget and in line with strategic marketing briefs and editorial guidelines. To this end, the senior producer needs to work closely with the Head of Digital Studios, digital marketing managers and digital planners.

Role Responsibility

Respond to the individual requirements of relevant global brands and specific platforms to create shareable content with the express intention of growing reach and increasing engagement metrics. This requires an audience focussed approach, using data and analytics as a tool to inform and underpin our creative process.

 

Creative idea generation and direction around ‘Always On’ content, special projects and campaigns.

Managing the creative output of content makers:  BBC staff, freelancers or agency and proactively generate new content ideas for all global brands.

Leading the project teams on an operational basis. Manage, motivate and guide the personal development of a small team of permanent production staff.

Delivering multi-platform digital content to deadline and ensuring that projects are delivered to the allocated budget, and that a steady stream of content is delivered, ensuring we meet our contractual targets with partners.

Are you the right candidate?

As a Senior Digital Producer, you are experienced in the production industry, specifically in television or media and will be confident in generating multiplatform digital ideas for Global Brands digital e.g. video, design, gifs, audio and written copy. You will be skilled in producing assets for social media platforms and possess sound editorial judgement and digital production skills. With experience of managing projects with multiple stakeholders, you thrive in delivering results via a team, to deadline and to budget. Creativity is the lifeblood of your work, which you demonstrate via your impeccable creative writing, enabling you to capture the audience’s imagination and immerse them in our Brands.

Effective planning prioritising, delegating and giving feedback to maintain effective performance are skills which you have developed through your leadership roles in production. These ensure your communication is effective and audience appropriate, to establish rapport with people at all levels and persuade others to your viewpoint. You adapt effectively to a variety of situations and possess the resilience and stamina to sustain effective performance under pressure. An understanding of BBC’s editorial Guidelines is essential - protecting the brands and organisation comes hand in hand with the promotions.
