Senior Journalist, BBC Arabic Radio
BBC Arabic is the largest BBC language service, providing news, current affairs and programmes on Radio, TV and Online to Arabic speaking audiences in the Middle East and across the world, 24 hours per day, and seven days per week.
The Arabic service aims to deliver the most distinctive, trustworthy and challenging journalism in Arabic in the world. It aims to better reach and serve its Arabic speaking audiences, to explain the world and their place in it. To achieve its ambition, BBC Arabic aims to get closer to its audience in the region. This strategy has started years ago by establishing a number of bureaus in the region such as Cairo, Beirut, Tunis and now in Amman where some of its flagship day programmes will be produced later this year.
We are recruiting two Senior Journalists to join the team on fixed term contracts for 12 months. You will be part of the exciting launch of the new bureau.
Reporting to the Assistant Editor Arabic Radio News, you role as Senior Journalist is to oversee a team of Journalists in the Radio team. You will help shape the daily content both digitally and on radio. You will be responsible for supervising production work, ensuring that content adheres to BBC editorial guidelines and is relevant to the target audience.
Are you the right candidate?
The successful candidate will be a fluent Arabic and English speaker, with experience in a senior journalistic role. You will have excellent leadership skills, with knowledge of managing and developing a team of journalists. Extensive knowledge of radio, digital and interactive journalism is essential. You will have first class knowledge of news and current affairs in the region and internationally.
Location: Amman, Jordan
Contract: 2 x fixed term for 12 months
