BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of BBC News to serve global audiences. It uses multiple platforms to reach its weekly audience of 319 million globally, including TV, digital platforms including social media, AM, FM, shortwave, digital satellite and cable channels.
BBC Persian reaches a weekly audience of approximately 21 million people in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and around the world, providing content on TV, Radio, Online and Social Media. It is one of the BBC’s most popular and successful global services.
We have a vacancy for a Senior Journalist to join our Radio team in London.
As a Senior Journalist you will be responsible for originating and producing stories for our Persian Radio service and will ensure that output meets the expectations of audiences and adheres to BBC editorial guidelines.
Due to the nature of the role you may be required to present on air and in vision, and will be doing night shifts most of the time. There may be times where you are asked to work across different Persian service platforms and will be deployed to cover special events from the field.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidates will have a high standard of editorial judgement, writing ability and production skills based on substantial journalism experience. Excellent knowledge of production of live radio programmes is important. A full command of Persian and English, both written and spoken, is essential, as is a thorough knowledge of news and current affairs, with a focus on Iran, Afghanistan and the region.

The maximum salary for this vacancy is £56,086 per annum, inclusive of allowances
