Our Sports News, Radio Sport and Interactive teams help make sure that every day, throughout the year our audiences are served with all the stories surrounding every sport as well as providing world class coverage of the events themselves.

We want BBC Sport’s output to reflect and understand the audiences we serve - for example, the different geographical regions of the UK and the experience of people from underrepresented groups (eg people from Black, Asian or minority ethnic backgrounds, people with lived experience of disability, individuals within the LGBTQ+ community and those from lower socio economic groups).  We are therefore actively seeking individuals with skills or experience that can help contribute towards ensuring we maximise the diversity of our coverage and content.

Role Responsibility

BBC Sports News is looking to recruit a Senior Journalist to work in a Development role with our colleagues at Global News Limited and BBC Studios. 

The successful candidate will work across a range of platforms but primarily be looking for opportunities across digital. In this role, you will use your skills at managing relationships to bring people together from across BBC Sport to maximise opportunities to take our content to a global audience through Broadcast partners.

You will be commercially savvy and be able to quickly establish how to connect our Digital and TV output to commercial opportunities that come from those relationships. 

You will show strong editorial leadership, recognising the specific needs of the relevant audiences.

The Ideal Candidate

It is essential our Senior Journalists have substantial experience in television, radio and/or multi-media production as a Sports Producer or Journalist. Proven editorial judgement, flair and the ability to make valid decisions quickly.

A thorough knowledge of sporting issues, mainstream sport and an informed interest in a wide range of Global sports is needed to be successful in this role.

You should also have proven leadership skills; managing individuals and teams of multi-skilled staff.
