BBC Cymru Wales is the nation's leading provider of news on television, radio, online and social media. The digital news team is responsible for BBC Wales’ digital news service – in text and video. The team is at the forefront of BBC Wales’ journalism, combining breaking and developing news with accessible analysis and explanation of events. It aims to deliver the highest quality journalism, with a focus on younger and under-served audiences, and bring together output from the whole BBC Wales newsroom.
BBC Wales News and Current Affairs is an integrated team of journalists working across radio, TV and online in English and Welsh. Our aims are excellence, collaboration and innovation - for our teams and for our output. This job is for a senior journalist initially working primarily in digital news but you will be expected, encouraged and supported to work in different parts of the operation in order to develop your career and where operational demands require.
This role is to be part of a wider team of senior journalists within digital news who are responsible for the coordination of output on the BBC Wales news index and its associated digital platforms. The successful candidate will have responsibilities for commissioning and overseeing output on our social channels including video, scheduling and planning, allocating work to the team of journalists, giving editorial direction and making editorial decisions, determining content and the run orders of content on the digital platforms. Forward planning skills and some management will also form part of the duties of the successful candidate. There will be an expectation for the successful candidate to liaise and manage relationships with other outlets in BBC Wales news as well as in other BBC centres.

The successful candidate will generate ideas, commission content from within the team and wider newsroom, ensure the content complies with BBC editorial standards and offers innovative and creative content to our audiences. This job involves shift working and weekend working.
