Senior Journalist

Job Introduction

The Scottish election  is fast approaching and it promises to be unlike any other as it comes during the Covid pandemic. 

In order that we maximise and coordinate our best journalism we are recruiting for a Senior Journalist as Election Campaign Lead. 

 

 

Role Responsibility

Working with the Commissioning and Politics teams, the Campaign Lead will be the main point of contact for the parties as well as organise and join up our coverage. 

The role will link between all platforms to ensure we don't duplicate. 

Main responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining the campaign deployment grid.
  • Pushing diverse issues to the front of our coverage. 
  • Act as key BBC daily contact for parties.
  • Work with commissioning, resources  and output teams to ensure they have appropriate political coverage
  • To assist in the decision making of what stories we cover.

 

 

 

 

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will need to be an experienced journalist, a great organiser, and also someone who wants to help set the agenda of our election story telling. 

You should have a keen understanding of politics, but just as important have an energy to tell the stories that matter to our audiences. 

You will thrive in a busy team environment and enjoy making decisions.
