Role Responsibility

Working in a highly agile multi-disciplinary team, we'd be looking for you to produce enterprise-level ECMAScript 6 functional-style JavaScript Flux applications (using React and Redux) with thorough tests (using Enzyme and Chai) for Amazon Web Services cloud-based deployments. Partake in code reviews, design meetings and innovation brainstorming sessions. The application of industry best practices such as test-driven development, continuous integration, continuous delivery, pair programming and microservices is expected in order to produce robust, scalable, reusable and sustainable systems. Keeping abreast of the latest industry and open-source developments in order to bring new ideas to the table and help shape the future of BBC Design & Engineering Editorial Services.

Are you the right candidate?

  • Experience using ECMAScript 6 JavaScript with comprehensive unit testing.
  • Comprehensive and testable knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, HTTP, and CGI.
  • Experience of working with code repositories (e.g. SVN or Git) and bug tracking tools (e.g. Jira or Trac).
  • Demonstrable understanding of Design Patterns.
  • Appreciation of a service-oriented architecture.
  •  A good understanding of W3C standards.
  • Experience of commercial web development processes.
  • Experience of working in an environment where products have to be delivered to specific timescales.
  •  An ability to rapidly and effectively understand and translate client business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience of supporting, modifying and maintaining systems and code developed by teams other than your own.
