Senior Software Engineer in Test

How we work?

We are an agile team that supports continuous integration and deployment. We support this by making sure our testing is robust and that our pipelines are steadfast. We monitor our systems in production to understand the impact of change every time we release value to our audience.

We work in multi-discipline crews with Software Engineers, Testers, Product owners and Delivery, in a respectful and collaborative environment. We encourage a culture of team empowerment that supports self-development for each individual. 

Role Responsibility

  • Leading the definition and execution of the test approach for a product
  • Planning, estimating, reporting and directing test activities for a product
  • Collaborating and integrating with other product development team members to ensure the delivery of a product to specification
  • Creating manual and/or automated test cases to verify functional and non-functional requirements of a product in various stages of the development life cycle
  • Liaising with other product teams to ensure joined-up testing approaches for multi-team projects
  • Troubleshooting– finding critical bugs or verifying reported issues, identifying their underlying cause and seeing them through to resolution liaising with other teams where appropriate
  • Producing descriptive and concise reports that evidence the functionality of a product
  • Aligning with and supporting the test process to ensure its consistent application across multiple teams

Are you the right candidate?

You may have experience of some, but not necessarily all, of the following:

  • Be able to communicate, advocate, persuade and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to advance our testing strategy and deliver audience value
  • Experience creating & maintaining UI-driven Automation frameworks across iOS & Android using common design patterns such (e.g: page object pattern)
  • Ability to pick up different technologies and acclimatise to them rapidly
  • Demonstrable understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Experience updating or evolving automated testing strategies
  • A track record of producing maintainable code within collaborative environments
  • Real world experience in either Ruby or Kotlin (Java) or Swift (Objective-C)

Desirable

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Experience leading testing focussed tasks within agile teams
  • Knowledge of delivery pipelines and source control (e.g: Git, Jenkins)
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum/Kanban project management
  • Experience with Appium as an automation tool for testing native mobile applications
