Senior Systems Engineer - Broadcast Systems
This is an exciting time to join Broadcast Systems Development as we look to the future and plan an architecture transformation that will support faster delivery of new features, workflows and experiences in a converging online/linear space.
The Broadcast Systems development team builds, maintains and extends some of the key systems underlying BBC News on television and online. We have systems which provide media ingestion, movement, metadata and asset management services to our editorial colleagues, deployed internationally and systems built and managed by the department providing broadcast graphic and data presentation automation for our television output.
BBC News is changing. We recently announced a major expansion of the World Service, bringing our journalism to more people than ever around the world with 11 new language services. That expansion includes our broadcast output, with additional international bureaux and production facilities being built and others expanded. We make the BBCs high-quality journalism possible, and we actively look for new ways to reach people and to tell stories, and to communicate in new and effective ways.
We are constantly evolving our systems to meet the requirements of BBC News. We achieve this by combining off-the-shelf and custom-built components to enable us to build forward-looking systems that journalists and content creators will love to use and which are scalable, fast and cost effective. Our Role is to build and maintain innovative infrastructure, develop new deployment methods while supporting our software developers.
