The service’s output aims to serve Indonesian-speaking audience in Indonesia, Southeast Asia and the world. As part of an historic and exciting expansion, BBC Indonesia is increasing its team in Jakarta and enhancing its output.
BBC Indonesia is a leader in social media innovation and has a dynamic social media presence. We have a dedicated Social Newsgathering team that is responsible for doing original journalism through social media and exploring new ways of storytelling digitally. This has led to an exciting opportunity for a senior Social Media journalist to join the BBC Indonesia team based in Jakarta.
As a Social Media Broadcast Journalist, you will work within our newsgathering operation by curating, generating and editing social media content on bbcindonesia.com and all platforms, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and others, as relevant to Indonesia. You will produce impactful original content on a daily basis for online and social media which will help to maximize BBC’s reach and impact in Indonesia language. In addition, you will collaborate with BBC News online to lead on key international and regional stories for social media platforms in Indonesian.
Are you the right candidate?
The successful candidate will be fluent in Indonesian (written and spoken), with an excellent command of English. You will have experience in video and/or TV production, editing and storytelling, including work on Social Media. An understanding of global and regional news in the target area is essential. You will have a flair for creative writing and will be able to bring new and interesting angles to stories for BBC Indonesia.

Contract – 2 year fixed term contract
