Come and see what it takes to be a software engineer at the BBC. We're looking for summer placement students to join us for 8 weeks from 6th July.
You will spend 8 weeks embedded in one of the Engineering Teams within Design + Engineering, at Pacific Quay in Glasgow. You'll again experience the core technologies that the BBC uses to bring our range of products to the audience.
Opportunities are available within many teams - from big audience facing projects in BBC News, Homepage, iPlayer & Sounds, through our Platform capabilities and our Voice+AI team. We'll do our best to allocate you to a team that fits your skills and interests.
Our teams follow agile development methodologies and practice Test Driven Development, Behaviour Driven Development and paired programming.
They excel at collaboration and we work closely with other teams in the BBC.
The Ideal Candidate
You're currently in your penultimate year of study (or earlier) for a degree in web development/ software engineering or related field.
You love working in teams, learning from others, and helping others to learn
Our software engineers are really passionate about what they do. You'll need to have the passion to match!
You will share our values (see the attached doc for more information)
You will have researched the BBC Digital Archive and BBC Bitesize, so you already know about what they do. We recommend a web search before you apply!
We can only accept applicants who already have the right to work in the UK.
We welcome applicants from students 1st, 2nd or penultimate year of study.
