Software Engineering Trainee - BBC NI

We ask that you have a degree in Software Engineering or similar discipline or equivalent knowledge and experience. We’re looking for people who enjoy working with others in a collaborative environment and relish developing their skillset on a wide range of projects.
During your 24 month placement you will have the opportunity to work within a variety of teams and you will be given the chance to learn a wide variety of skills across many technologies. Each team is unique and will present its own individual ways of working.
You will have the opportunity to work on numerous products and backend services used within BBC NI to support our broadcasting, media and metadata infrastructures. These will include the design and development of many new systems in a constantly evolving environment.
BBC NI mainly use the following technologies:
- Microsoft .Net C#
- Amazon Web Services (including Lambda, DynamoDB, S3 and EC2)
- Containerisation (Docker / Kubernetes)
- HTML 5 & CSS 3
- SQL and NoSQL databases
Our award-winning BBC Academy offers a wide variety of training courses to assist you during each phase of your placement. You are encouraged to take advantage of this resource whenever possible and will also have access to many subject matter experts keen to offer their guidance at every step.

After the Scheme
You will be offered a Software Engineer position within the BBC. Our retention rate for trainees going into roles after completion of the scheme is currently 100%.
