Video Journalist - BBC Somali
The BBC is an international multimedia broadcaster on radio, TV, online and social networks with a weekly global audience of 320 million. As part of an historic and exciting expansion of BBC Africa, the BBC World Service has increased its digital operation for the Somali audience and also introduced a daily Somali TV news programme. We are looking for a Digital journalist with excellent written and spoken Somali to join the team in Nairobi at this critical time.
BBC Somali Service operates a digital first strategy, publishing content online and on social media platforms, alongside producing radio news and current affairs programmes in Somali. The service’s focus is to produce world-class digital content that makes sense of news and events in Somalia and its neighbouring region for our local and global audiences.

Working closely with other Journalists in the service, the successful candidate will create digital content in multiple formats including audio and video. You will use your knowledge of the digital media market to produce interesting news content for our website and social media platforms.
You will work across all digital platforms to ensure the highest quality content is created for our audiences and conforms to BBC Values and editorial standards.
Are you the right candidate?
You will be an experienced journalist with practical knowledge of the digital media market and the ever changing way audiences consume news.
It is essential that you are fluent in Somali and English, both written and spoken. This position requires a solid current knowledge of Somali news and current affairs and an understanding of audience needs across the continent.
Based in Nairobi, Kenya
