We have placements available in the following areas:

BBC iPlayer mobile apps (August only - under 18)

Are you thinking of working in the IT industry but aren't quite sure if it would be the right choice for you or not? Perhaps you're already doing something technical like coding or graphics design at school or in your spare time but you'd like a taster of what you might end up doing if it was your job? We're Dock House floor 2 at the BBC. We build apps like iPlayer, iPlayer on TV & Sounds that are enjoyed by millions of people each day & we want to show you how we do it.
You'll spend most of your placement learning about all the different jobs that are required to build some of the UK's most loved apps but when you're not doing that there'll be time to build your own game on the BBC micro:bit or get a sneak peek at some of the cutting edge VR experiences that we're building.

BBC iPlayer mobile apps (August & September only - over 18)

Dock House floor 2 builds experiences that delight & inform millions of users every day – iPlayer mobile, iPlayer on TV & Sounds just to name a few.
Your placement will be based with the mobile iPlayer team where you will gain an overview of how the team works whilst developing tooling to aid the delivery of one of our products. There’ll also be chances to explore how other technology teams’ work throughout the BBC depending on your interests.
We find that the people who get the most out of our placements have some existing programming experience but please don't let this put you off.
There will be a certain amount of flexibility regarding your placement depending on your interests - E.G. frontend, backend, mobile, infrastructure etc.
