Extendee - Talent Co-ordinator, BBC Comedy

Job Introduction

The multi award-winning BBC In-House Comedy department is the world’s largest producer of comedy, and is responsible for some of the most popular and critically acclaimed programmes in the UK. The department prides itself on working with the very best in comedy talent, established and new, both on and behind the screen, across radio, online and all four BBC TV channels.

Role Responsibility

Working as part of the talent team to support the functions of the team on a full range of staffing and resourcing initiatives and processes for the department, you'll also work with the talent manager and hiring managers to coordinate the recruitment process from initial recruitment request to hire. Supporting the talent managers and hiring managers responsible for scheduling, training, contracting and all other talent-related matters, you'll also contribute to improving the talent team’s systems and processes and be involved in introducing new ways of working more efficiently.

The Ideal Candidate

We need you to demonstrate similar experience in a co-ordinating role preferably within a production team or staff management team. You'll have experience of maintaining office and administrative systems, and of suggesting improvements to existing ones where appropriate. You'll have excellent IT skills with particular focus of experience in Excel and Word and experience of report writing and the ability to present data in different formats to a variety of audiences.

Extend – BBC Disability Scheme


Exclusively for disabled people, Extend is an award-winning, BBC-wide work placement scheme which offers appropriately experienced and/or qualified people a great opportunity to gain six months’ paid work experience within the BBC.

Although the scheme doesn’t necessarily lead to a full-time job, last year 70% gained further work at the BBC.

From October 2014, 12 placements will be available across the UK, in both programming areas and programme support areas. You’ll need to match the criteria for the placement as well as demonstrate a keen interest in broadcasting and knowledge of BBC output.
