Self-Shooting Producer, Lambing Live 2014

Job Introduction

LAMBING LIVE is returning to BBC TWO with a brand new series in Spring 2014. Presented by Kate Humble and Adam Henson, the series will combine live and documentary content, transmitting from an OB based at Scottish farm during lambing season. Kate’s continuing her journey learning how to be a shepherdess, while Countryfile’s Adam Henson is heading off to find out more about how sheep have made Britain great.

We are looking for an experienced, creative and resilient self-shooting film-maker to work on the obs doc strand following our farming family through six months in the farming calendar.  This is a great opportunity to work on the return of a much loved series, mixing live with observational documentary and beautifully crafted films, plus the life and death drama of the lambing season itself.

Role Responsibility

You will be responsible for making the core insert films for Lambing Live 2014. The role is to deliver around 15 – 20 films that form the backbone of the series.  These are the films made with our featured family over the six months in the run up to lambing. They will also include films made with Kate Humble as she continues her quest to become a shepherdess.

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, excellent self-shooting skills with extensive experience and examples of following actuality both effectively and beautifully is essential.   You will also need proven ability to shoot material and then take it into an edit to deliver emotionally engaging insert films (with the help of a craft editor). Considerable experience of working as the lead member of a production team on location is required as well as demonstrable ability to identify and capture story with excellent story lining skills. You are experienced at script writing and story pitching.  You will need to be able to build relationships and trust with contributors over an extended period of time and have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.  Strong planning, organising and time management skills are needed in order to work under pressure of tight deadlines and changing priorities.

In addition you will ideally have experience of filming outdoors, with animals, in a remote rural location and all weathers.

8-month attachment/fixed term contract

Base:  This role is London based but will involve time on location in Scotland.  The edit is likely to be in London.
